The case for one app

Right now it takes seven apps and a group chat. standley is the one login.

A scheduling app here, a time clock there, checklists on paper, labor in a spreadsheet, a review tool you forgot to use, supply runs over text, maintenance on a sticky note by the register. Every one is another login, another bill — most of them pricier alone than standley is altogether.

From the founder

Nobody opens a restaurant dreaming about operating one. You dream about the doors opening and the room filling up. What nobody tells you is everything that starts the morning after.

I didn’t set out to build software — I set out to run the restaurant I’d opened in Miami. Every problem I hit, from schedules buried in a group chat to a vendor asking which invoice my $1,000 just covered, I built into standley. On a real floor, one problem at a time.

The stand is the ovation a great team earns — in a dining room, that’s the review. The ·ley is my name. It’s on the app because I lived every problem it solves.

The card · engraved to order

Real wood. Their name. One tap.

Every server gets a laser-engraved wooden card that works with a tap — guests touch their phone to it, like paying at the register. A code engraved on the back covers everyone else. The card comes out when the table is happy — problem fixed, plates cleared — so the review that follows is the one your floor actually earned.

Questions

The things owners ask first.

What is standley?
standley is a staff-operations app built for independent restaurants. In one place it helps you run the floor — scheduling and shift covers, an NFC time clock, checklists with photo proof, labor and hours, maintenance, supplies, and payables — and helps grow the restaurant, with per-server QR codes that turn great service into Google reviews and a weekly leaderboard your team races on. It was built by a restaurant owner who ran the floor himself.
How does standley get my restaurant more Google reviews?
Every server gets their own code — on a wooden card or just their phone. A guest taps it and lands one tap from the Google review box, with the server's name already attached. No app for the guest to download, no sign-up. One restaurant pulled over 300 reviews in their first month.
Do my staff need to download an app?
No. Everyone logs in on their own phone in the browser — the schedule, the time clock, and their checklists are all there. They can save it to the home screen if they want, but nobody has to visit an app store.
What does standley cost?
From $59 a month per location, billed annually. Every plan includes the same thing — reviews, scheduling, the time clock, checklists, labor and hours, maintenance, records, and staff rewards. Plans differ by team size, not features. You start free for 3 months — no credit card, nothing charged.
Do I need special hardware for the time clock?
Just one clock-in station — an engraved wooden station that sits by the door, $59. The tag inside comes pre-written to your restaurant, so staff tap their phone on it to punch in and out and it greets them by name. One is all most restaurants need; you can add another for a second door if you want, but you don't have to. You can also turn on a geofence so punches only count at the restaurant.
Does it work for the back of house too?
Yes. The kitchen gets its own board — every shift has its own start and end checklists with photo proof, and staff are routed to their shift automatically by when they're scheduled. The back of house races on tasks, kept separate from the servers' review leaderboard. Everyone competes within their own department, never mixed.
How long does it take to set up?
About ten minutes to your first scan. Add your team, name your shifts and place them on the week once, write each shift's start and end checklists — they reset every shift — and set the clock-in station by the door. After that you read one dashboard.
